Samsung go compact crazy
by Matt Tuffin on 21/07/2008 13:11
New 14 and 13MP compacts bolster the autumn lineup
Samsung has updated the current range of compact cameras with five new models covering a variety of uses, such as high definition video and MP3 playback. The photography side is well catered for also, with a 13 and 14MP camera on the horizon.
At the budget end of the scale is the S1070, which is priced at £99, and offers 10.2MP and a 3x optical zoom. Next up is the L201 at £129, which offers a similar feature set but a more stylish look. The L310W ups the megapixels to an impressive 13.6, and at £199 presents superb value. Although the NV9 may only have a 10.2MP CCD, but the MP3 and video playback functionality will doubtless have younger users saving for the necessary £179. Finally the NV100HD offers high def movie recording, and insures the stills side is given equal attention by boasting a 14.6MP CCD. Both of these attributes, plus a 3” touch screen and blink detection, certainly makes for an enticing prospect, combining ease of use with an impressive feature list. Having such a large CCD will put extra stress on the lens, so it will be interesting to see if the optical quality will be up to standard.
More information is at www.samsung.co.uk, all five models will be released between now and the next month.
