ThinkTank Photo Airport TakeOff

DATE REVIEWED: 7th Sep 2010

Review

Return to Latest Accessories »

This innovative product is no ordinary photography bag. A clever combination of a backpack and a rolling case, the Airport TakeOff marries the best of both worlds to create something that’s highly practical and versatile.

Its unassuming exterior disguises its true function, with a sleek black finish and discreet styling that makes it appear like any other suitcase. Inside, however, there is plenty of space for all of your camera gear and more. The interior can be customised, using the removable padded dividers to allocate space to individual items, or you can remove them all and simply use it as a regular suitcase.

As a camera bag, the Airport TakeOff can stow up to two pro-sized DSLR bodies, with or without lenses attached. For travelling wildlife and sports photographers the case can carry up to a 300mm f2.8 lens, as well as a range of other optics – we were able to slip in our telephoto lens, along with two DSLR bodies, a further 200mm f2.8 lens, two wide-angle optics and a 60mm macro lens. There are also plenty of nooks and crannies to add flash guns, cleaning kits, etc. On the back you’ll find some concealed shoulder straps, or you can place it on the ground, extend the hidden handle and simply wheel it around. A good choice for frequent flyers.

Final Verdict
We’re impressed with the adaptability of this bag. It’s well-made and feels like it should withstand the rigours of travel
