LG Viewty Smart GC900

This cameraphone is a breath of fresh air when it comes to smartphones, steering clear of any iPhone-related connotations. In fact, the LG Viewty Smart GC900 is the next in line from a very popular predecessor in its own right, the LG Viewty KU990, which had sales in the region of 6.5 million.

This model’s main draw is the eight-megapixel camera, a considerable upgrade from the five-megapixel version featured by its predecessor. The camera is activated by tilting the phone sideways and touching the shutter. This launches the Camera mode, so you can start shooting immediately. The camera controls sit on the right edge of the phone, with the volume lever doubling up as the zoom. Although there is no optical zoom on board, the Viewty Smart does feature a 4X digital zoom, which is sufficient for framing your shots a little tighter.

A Schneider-Kreuznach lens is on board to offer crisp, detailed shots with no obvious distortion. Take a look inside the LG technology and you’ll find a fantastic Intelligent Shot technology, which analyses the subject, lighting and background to choose an optimum scene mode before you take your shot. There are seven scene modes that it chooses from and consistently chose an appropriate mode

during our tests.

The Viewty Smart could quite easily replace the need for a separate compact camera, thanks to manual adjustable ISO and white balance as well as features such as in-camera edit features and art modes. A worthy alternative to the iPhone.

Final Verdict
As far as cameraphones go, the LG Viewty Smart is up there with the best of them
