Lexar Multi-Card 24-in-1 USB Reader £30 |

This desktop gadget from Lexar is small, streamlined and stylish – but hidden within this compact exterior is the power to read up to 24 memory card formats. The design is well thought out and while not in use, the reader is under 2cm thick. When you’re ready to slip a card inside, simply depress the buttons located
on each side, which allow the slot sections
to be exposed.
Clearly labelled, the five slots read CompactFlash, SD, SDHC, microSD, Memory Stick, XD and 19 others. Connect the long USB lead directly to your Mac or PC and insert the card. A small blue light on the right-hand side of the faceplate is illuminated when the reader has recognised the card. When ejecting, the unit flashes to let you know it is safe to remove the memory. When finished, the top can then be pressed to keep the slots out of the way of harmful dust, etc.
A simple solution to many people’s needs of a reader for more than one card format, this offering from Lexar goes one step further than most. With its sleek and glossy white exterior, this is a reader that can be proudly displayed in the home office, rather than tucked away in a drawer. The crowning jewel for the reader is its one-year warranty, giving photographers peace of mind.

Final Verdict There’s little to find fault with in this 24-in-1 reader, least of all its innovative pop-up design – a worthy investment
