For photographers looking for a serious scanner to help bring their old prints and negatives into the digital age, then the Epson Perfection V500 Photo scanner is a fantastic option. It’s aimed at the enthusiast who is after quality, without the professional price tag and at £199; you get quality in its bucket loads.
It comes equipped with two lots of negative holders, one for 12 frames of 35mm film and up to 4 35mm transparencies and the other for 6X12cm medium format film. To use them, simply load them up with your film and align them up to the corresponding letter on the scanner bed. The scanning process is quick and easy, with a simply one-touch start button. The in-built ReadyScan technology works hard to scan your images fast and offers a near-instant start up time. It’s also energy saving too.
The V500 comes with a wealth of great software to get your scans looking their best including, Digital ICE to help remove dust and scratches and for all your post processing tweaks and Epson Creativity Suite 1.3. These can be set up easily on your home computer without too much hassle. Combine this with the high 64000dpi scan resolution and you have some seriously good quality scans on your hands.
For ease of use you can send your scans to email or even PDF, which is a handy feature helping to make this a well-rounded package for photographers. If you require quality over multi features, then the V500 is a great choice.
